Apartment & Condo Movers in Tacoma | Three Generations Moving

We square away the insurance certificate, service-elevator slots, dock and curb clearance across Tacoma towers and walk-ups.

For a condo or apartment relocation, what makes or breaks the day is rarely the sofa, it is the choreography, and Tacoma keeps that interesting. We run these week in and week out, from garden complexes off SR-512 and down Pacific Avenue out to the towers by the Tacoma Dome and the fresh mid-rises near UW Tacoma. Carrying the couch up is the easy bit. The thornier part is the insurance file, a service-elevator slot reserved in your name, and a building manager who will not wave the truck toward the dock until that document is in hand.

Every piece of that planning falls to us. The certificate goes to building management ahead of time at no charge, your slot on the lift or the back door gets held, and dock clearance plus enough curb gets locked in so nobody is circling the block. Inside, the car gets a padding wrap and the lobby floor gets a protective runner, because a building handed back spotless is the thing that brings a deposit home. Whoever has your couch on their shoulder is a trained W-2 employee of ours, never somebody waved in from a daybreak labor pool, and a study packed with screens is treated as gently as we would treat a curio cabinet.

Tall walk-ups, towers, and pinched Tacoma stairwells

Quite a few of the vintage buildings on Hilltop and in Old Town have zero elevators, and humping furniture up to a third- or fourth-floor flat is just a Tuesday for our crew. We staff it deep enough that a tall stairwell draws extra backs and the pace never sags or chews up your billable hours. Tower or walk-up, we set the carry to dodge the soggy months, because dragging a sofa along an open-air breezeway in a winter deluge helps no one. Wrestling a gun safe up to a fifth-story unit is exactly the kind of grind that made our name.

What sits outside an apartment job

A handful of items fall beyond the base move. Any charge the building hits you with, a lift deposit being one, belongs on the building’s bill rather than ours. Nothing hazardous, no potted plants, no animals come along. And any outsize specialty item, a grand piano or a safe, claims its own line on the estimate so the correct rigging shows up and the dock sees no surprises.

Apartment pricing

Run the clock, the rig and the gear folded in, and two movers come to $140/hr, three to $185/hr, four to $240/hr, the haul and the lift written into the plan from minute one. Or settle on a flat number: a studio runs $420–$650, a one-bedroom $650–$1,050, a two-bedroom $1,050–$1,800. No charge hidden away for getting into the building, and a $1M cargo coverage layer over every load.

What Tacoma Customers Tell Us

Browns Point · Google
★★★★

“Browns Point to Boise was our haul, and the part I appreciated most was that the same faces who packed the truck in Tacoma were the ones unloading it in Idaho, no handoff to some carrier I'd never spoken to. The written figure they committed to up front is what I paid, period. I'll dock one star because on delivery day I had to phone in myself to get a timeframe, which felt like it should've come to me, but the crew was decent and not one thing arrived broken. Reasonable for the distance.”

University Place · Google
★★★★★

“There's an upright in our family that was my grandmother's, and the thought of hauling it across University Place had me on edge. Turned out I had nothing to worry about, the crew showed up with the proper ramp and straps and eased it out the door and up onto the truck like it was routine for them. Everything else in the 2-bed was simple by comparison. No marks on the piano, none on the floors. I honestly couldn't have hoped for better.”

Lakewood · Google
★★★★★

“Three-bed move staying inside Lakewood, and they did it properly. Punctual, organized, and respectful of the house from the first box to the last. Best part for me was knowing the flat rate up front in writing, so there was no haggling once they finished. Nobody tried to upsell me on anything. I'd point a friend their way in a heartbeat.”

Puyallup · Google
★★★★★

“Our Puyallup garage was a disaster after years of just piling things up, and Three Generations cleared the whole thing out and then moved us the same week. Tyler's crew hauled off the junk and the busted old treadmill by the truckload, then handled the house move without breaking a sweat. One company for both made it so much simpler, and the price was exactly what they quoted.”

Questions On This Service

Can you take the insurance certificate my building wants off my plate?
We can. Most of the downtown and UW Tacoma towers insist on one, so we get it over to the management office early and charge nothing for it. Tell us what the property spells out and it is dealt with.
Whose job is booking the service elevator and the dock?
Ours. Working through whoever runs your building, we lock the rear door, the dock, and the elevator slot, then have the crew rolling up the moment the doors open to us. None of that scheduling lands on you.
My place has no lift in the building, period. Can you manage?
For sure. A solid share of our jobs are walk-ups, and hoofing it up five stories is just the work. We add bodies so the rhythm never drops, and the rate reflects the steps and the haul, fair and square.
How do you keep my deposit safe?
The lift car gets padded, the lobby gets a cover laid down, and each item is eased through every doorway. Leave the place mark-free and the deposit comes back to you, so that is a detail we guard closely.
